Car history:
This is #2189 of the 3640 Corvettes assembled by Chevrolet in 54. The Corvette, introduced in 1953, was the first true American productions sports car, and now after 50 years their legacy is strong and ongoing. These introductory models presented unheard of, production features like a hand laminated fiberglass body, 150 horsepower Blue Flame 6 cylinder engine with triple carburetion, dual exhaust, etc.

This handsome example, refinished in Penant Blue with a Metallic Beige, Al Knoch interior, and top, has benefitted from a comprehensive body off nut and bolt total restoration on a numbers matching, low mileage car. This Corvette has had one previous owner of record, spent its entire life in the St. Louis area and the mileage is documented at 56,700

The restoration included complete cosmetic and mechanical restoration of the chassis and all mechanical components, fuel tank, suspension components and a complete stainless exhaust system. All rubber components were replaced. The body, in excellent original condition, was completely restored, paying special attention to originality. A minor repair to the right front fender was necessary and was done using all modern techniques. All the brightwork was replated and the original stainless trim repolished. All the electrics were rebuilt, including the starter, generator, and the instruments. A new wiring harness and battery were installed. The water pump was rebuilt as was the original radiator and fuel pump. . The cast iron Powerglide transmission, although not numbers matching to the chassis, is the correct vintage for this car.

This Corvette has logged less than 200 miles since the restoration was completed and boasts some very unique original features. It was reported that as an accessory for the 54 product line, Model Builders Company out of Chicago offered a custom plexiglass bubble top for the '54 Corvette. They reportedly built a total of 20 tops, 10 clear and 10 tinted green. It has also been reported in various publications that only 2 or 3 of these optional tops might still exist. As in the car featured on page 37 of Noland Adams "Corvette Restoration and Technical Guide (Volume 1)" This car includes this rare, unique, green tinted Plexiglass bubble top and the original Kelsey Hayes Chrome wire wheels that are, although unrestored, in restorable condition and go with the car.

Also included with the car are the original side curtains (in great condition) the jack and spare. The restoration is documented with a photo history and all applicable receipts.
